Farm

Established 1891

The lot around the log cabin is part of the old farm. Chicken coops, haystacks, and pig pens were all here. Lambs were taken care of. The barn for milking the cows was behind the current family home of Oleen and Jean, where the six brothers and sisters were raised. There was property above the town where the cows were taken each morning to the top of the road, up from the corrals, every day for them to feed. Then, we would walk the cows back to the barn every evening to be milked. The property below town was alfalfa or grain; they would rotate those crops. It was also farmed or used for cattle feeding a mile east of town. There was farming property west of the cemetery and river bottoms. We raised alfalfa for animals, wheat, and barley. All the siblings and many grandchildren would help on the farm.
