Built 1869ish
The log cabin was one of the first buildings constructed in the late 1800s as a one-room log cabin. Later, a lean-to kitchen was attached. The outhouse was behind the left side by the old tree. The log cabin was one of the first four buildings constructed in this area to start a new town.
Plymouth was first called Square Town because each home was put on a corner of the lots they were taking. Later, people who were exploring behind town up on Plymouth Mountain found a big white rock that reminded them of where the Pilgrims had landed on Plymouth Rock, so they changed the name to Plymouth.
Anna was born in the log cabin. She came by candlelight and lamplight. Grandpa Oleen Josephson had the electricity turned off during the Depression to save money for the doctor. When Grandpa went to have the electricity turned on because the baby was about to be born, they would not turn it on until he paid for the months it had been turned off, even though no electricity had been used.
